Introduction

Who We Are: At Buffalo Psychotherapy LCSW, PLLC we see substance use disorders as a symptom of a set of experiences across the lifespan. Here, our philosophy is different. We believe that treating substance use disorders and trauma symptomology is only part of the healing process. We look to rehabilitate the whole person. We believe in providing access to cutting edge, trauma-informed, and effective therapy. At our office, we use our own unique program and practice in a safe and warm environment of mutual understanding and respect. We aim to give you control of your life back, help you reconcile with your past and empower you to embrace the future. Who We Treat: We are able to treat adults who are experiencing mild to moderate substance use disorder symptoms, along with co-occurring symptoms related to experiences across the life span. For individuals experiencing more severe symptoms, we will provide appropriate referrals, as our size and services offered will not meet the appropriate clinical need at this time. We are not affiliated with the treatment court system and do not qualify as an identified court treatment space. We do not provide DWI assessments for New York State DMV and are not identified as a DMV-approved treatment provider. What Treatment Looks Like: Your first session will involve an in-depth assessment. Following completion, your therapist will engage you in identifying a treatment plan - these will be the goals that you work toward over the course of therapy. Your therapist will also discuss an appropriate clinical plan, and describe what that will look like. When Does Therapy End: Therapy typically ends when the treatment goals identified have been attained. Therapy may also end if there have been several missed appointments, if the psychotherapy being provided is not being effectively used, if you are in default of payment, or if it has been determined that a different level of care might be more appropriate. The therapeutic relationship will not be terminated without first having a discussion about barriers. Should therapy be terminated, you will be provided with referrals for qualified therapists. For Licensed Clinicians: If you are a licensed clinician looking for ongoing case consultation, or have completed EMDR basic training and are looking for EMDR consultation to support your own certification, Buffalo Psychotherapy LCSW, PLLC offers individual clinical or EMDR consultation at industry-standard rates.
