Hi, I’m Cameroon Lawson, a mental health counselor passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with authenticity, resilience, and purpose. My journey into counseling grew from both personal experiences and a deep commitment to supporting underserved communities, particularly within the African American community, where conversations around mental health are often stigmatized or overlooked. I have experience working in behavioral health, community wellness, mentorship, and program leadership, and I currently serve in community behavioral health leadership while continuing my clinical counseling work. My approach is grounded in compassion, cultural awareness, and creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, relationship concerns, and identity-related issues. I also have a strong interest in spirituality, men’s mental health, community healing, and helping clients build healthier coping skills while strengthening self-awareness and confidence. My counseling style is collaborative and person-centered, meaning I work alongside clients to help them identify goals, process experiences, and create meaningful change in their lives. I integrate evidence-based approaches with empathy, encouragement, and practical strategies that clients can apply in everyday life. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain about your next steps, or simply looking for a space to grow and heal, my goal is to provide support that feels genuine, empowering, and impactful. Therapy is not about having all the answers, it’s about creating space to better understand yourself and move toward the life you want to live.
