Introduction

I'm Candice. I offer trauma-informed, identity-affirming relationship therapy. Sometimes, there's a moment in a relationship where what you're navigating together begins to feel bigger than your tools for navigating it. Maybe it feels like your nervous systems are speaking a different language. Or, it feels like echoes of the past impact present connection. Maybe there are things that have been difficult to disclose to one another- parts of your history, your wants, or your lived experience that feel too complicated, too tender, or too uncertain to bring into the relationship yet. This is a space where those things can safely find their way into the room, and be met gently with compassionate curiosity and attuned holding. Here, we'll build a new toolbox for reflective communication, conscious collaboration, co-regulation and compassionate repair. Then, we work to understand and process the history that comes alive in your bodies, what lives between you, and begin to craft a dynamic that honors who you both are, your unique needs, and who you're growing to be. I aim for this to be a soft spot to land amidst what has felt hard or impossibly complex. I specialize in holding therapeutic space for partners loving one another through a partner's PTSD or CPTSD diagnosis, a complex chronic illness, pregnancy loss, reproductive trauma, sexual trauma, LGBTQIA+ family planning, or an evolving understanding of sexuality and relationship structure. These are the places where people often feel most unseen by their care systems, and most alone inside their relationship. Here, all facets of your lived experience get to be seen and known. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 8 years in the medical field working alongside physicians who treat complex chronic conditions including Lyme Disease, ME/CFS, MCAS, CIRS, Long COVID, Dysautonomia, Endometriosis or PCOS. If illness is woven into your story - as a diagnosis, as something that has impacted your way of being, or as something that has profoundly reshaped your life and relationships - I speak your language. I understand the grief, the relational strain, the hypervigilance, and the particular isolation of moving through something our healthcare system often fails to fully see or validate - including the particular weight that falls on inter-abled partnerships. This is a space that can hold all of it. In my work with couples, I weave together IFS parts work, somatic awareness, narrative therapy, and polyvagal-informed tools as we build a strong relational foundation to hold a newly crafted relationship dynamic. I believe that when we understand what each person is bringing from their history - what lives in their nervous system, their body, their sense of self - we can begin to meet each other differently in the present, and begin to build a future in a more holistic way. I'm queer affirming, neuro-affirming, and have worked extensively with polyamorous, non-monogamous, and open relationship structures. All parts of you, your identity and lived experience are welcome here. Let's begin to craft a relationship where all parts of you are seen, known and loved.
