In a world where everything feels like it's moving as fast as the speed of light, working with Cara is an opportunity to slow down and process what has been left unchecked. Cara offers nonjudgemental, compassion based therapy. She has experience working in the music industry with the nonprofit Backline, offering mental health support for the people who make the music happen. She has also worked on the Mexico/US border with immigrants, in group homes for foster children, and is a former touring performance artist. Feel free to send her a message/set up a free 15 minute consultation to see working with her feels like the right fit for you! A Living Acknowledgement: Land & Waters of Delray Beach I moved to Delray Beach just over a year ago, and I am learning what it means to belong here. These shores and mangroves, this coastal water that holds me, have been cared for since time immemorial by the Tequesta, whose ancestral homelands include this very land. Their descendants, as well as the Miccosukee, the Seminole, the Mascogo, and the Taíno, carry living relationships with this place through to today. I come to the water often — for spiritual guidance and for rest. I walk the land in quiet conversation. This is my commitment: To continue showing up with mindfulness. To keep learning — and letting that learning change how I live. To care for this place as a guest who wants to become a good relative. This acknowledgement is a living promise. It will grow as I grow. Let this ground remember our presence here with respect. Let our feet be gentle. Let our love for this land go deep and stay steady. This acknowledgement was written with guidance from Kōrero, an Indigenous land-and-waters companion shaped around respectful reflection. I answered three questions about my relationship to this place, and together we wove what you read above. You can learn more about Indigenous-guided conversations at www.native-land.ca.
