Introduction

Hi, I’m Cara 👋 I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-Associate), supervised by Dr. Wayne Smith, PhD, LPC-S. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston–Victoria and am currently pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Divine Mercy University. I specialize in trauma-informed, attachment-based therapy for teens, young adults, and families who feel overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, or disconnected in their relationships. Many of the clients I work with struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, family conflict, or life transitions. My approach blends evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Attachment Theory with mindfulness and nervous system-informed work grounded in Polyvagal Theory. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an effective approach for resolving trauma and distressing experiences. Whether you're navigating the impact of trauma, working through relational challenges, or seeking greater emotional stability, my goal is to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded in meaningful, lasting change. If you're ready to take the next step, I welcome you to reach out for a consultation. I’d be honored to support you.
