My goal is to empower adults to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies (e.g., staying present in the moment, regulating emotions, managing stress, and improving interactions with others) in response to past and current life stresses, and reach their fullest potential as they navigate life’s challenges. I’m Carol Burrell-Jackson, but many call me "Dr. J." I’m a Clinical Social Worker, licensed in Florida and Michigan. I am also Advanced/Enhanced Trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and I've been helping people most of my life. Clients have often commented on how helpful they find our work together. I have had the opportunity to help people who have struggled with anxiety depression, sexual, physical and racial trauma, and self-image/self-esteem. You can expect a FREE 15-minute consultation, in which we both decide if what I can offer fits your needs. If we continue, whether in person or virtually, I will work with you to develop a course of action to help address the issue for which you identify. Most often we will be working on “here and now” issues (e.g., job stressors, racist encounters, relationship conflict); however there will be times that things that have happened in the past may be affecting what’s going on with you presently. In those cases, you can anticipate us looking more deeply at your history and family of origin. You can expect to be assigned tasks to accomplish in between sessions so we can make the most use out of our time together. Depending on your needs I may share some strategies for helping you to manage your emotions, or developing strategies to help you develop more confidence. We’ll be evaluating how things are going along the way, and making modifications to our work as we need to. You might also anticipate my recommending intensive work, where we can spend a more concentrated amount of time and go deeper into the issue with which you presented.
