Introduction

Welcome Thanks for checking out my website! a first step toward learning more about yourself. I’m Carrie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Whether you’re feeling curious, overwhelmed, hopeful, or just not sure what to expect, you’re in the right place. Here you’ll find information about what therapy is, how I work, and how it can help you. If you have questions or concerns, just ask—your comfort matters! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State, holding a Master of Social Work degree from the University at Buffalo. Originally from Long Island, I have spent much of my adult life in Western New York and have been a resident of the Utica area for the past 13 years. My professional experience spans a variety of community-based and outpatient settings, working with diverse populations across multiple levels of care. My practice is rooted in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change, regardless of age or life circumstance. I utilize a strengths-based, person-centered approach that honors each client’s unique identity, values, and lived experience. Treatment Philosophy and Approach I provide evidence-based psychotherapy guided by clinical frameworks such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Trauma-Informed Care Motivational Interviewing Mindfulness-Based Strategies Parent-Child Interaction Techniques Attachment Theory–Informed Interventions Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Models Treatment is always tailored to your developmental and emotional needs, with a focus on building insight, developing effective coping skills, and enhancing overall functioning. Support for Grief and Loss Navigating grief can be one of life's most challenging experiences. I offer compassionate support for children, adolescents, and adults coping with grief and loss, whether from the death of a loved one, family changes, or other significant life transitions. My approach helps clients process emotions, develop resilience, and find meaning and healing during difficult times. Work with Children and Caregivers When working with children, I assess developmental, emotional, behavioral, and environmental factors contributing to presenting concerns. I collaborate closely with parents and caregivers to develop realistic and meaningful treatment goals. Through a collaborative and integrative approach, I support families in addressing: Emotional regulation difficulties Social and academic challenges Behavioral concerns Adjustment to life transitions, trauma, or grief I emphasize the importance of the caregiver-child relationship and provide psychoeducation, skill-building, and guidance using parent-child interaction techniques, therapeutic play, and structured feedback. Work with Adolescents Adolescents often face complex social, academic, and identity-related pressures that can impact their mental health. I offer a safe, affirming therapeutic space to support teens as they navigate: Anxiety and depression Peer conflict and social pressure Low self-esteem and identity exploration School stress and performance issues Family conflict or transitions Grief and loss My approach with teens is relational, strengths-focused, and developmentally sensitive, helping them gain insight, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping strategies. Work with Adults In my work with adults, I address a wide range of concerns, including: Mood and anxiety disorders Life transitions and adjustment issues Chronic stress and burnout Relationship and family difficulties Trauma and unresolved emotional pain Grief and loss Identity development, including neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ experiences I integrate cognitive-behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and values-based interventions to help adults increase self-awareness, reduce distress, and move toward greater fulfillment and stability. Special Populations and Areas of Interest I have particular experience and interest in working with: Neurodivergent children, teens, and adults (including ADHD and autism spectrum profiles) Families navigating special education and developmental disability systems (OPWDD, IEP/504 advocacy) LGBTQ+ individuals and families Clients with histories of complex trauma Parents seeking to enhance parenting skills and co-parenting relationships Individuals and families coping with grief and loss Why Does Therapy Work? Therapy begins where you are and progresses at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Our journey starts with an initial assessment and goal-setting session, where we collaborate to clarify your objectives—much like planning a road trip, knowing your starting point and destination helps us chart the best course. Building trust and rapport is fundamental. When clients feel safe and supported, they are more likely to share openly and engage fully in the healing process. I strive to provide a secure, nonjudgmental space for you to express yourself, explore challenges, and work toward your goals. Therapy is tailored to your developmental needs, supporting improved communication, behavior, relationships, and coping with difficult or stressful situations- including grief. While therapy can be challenging, I offer gentle but clear boundaries and guidance to help you stay grounded and grow.
