Introduction

Your brain won't shut up. I help with that! Hi, I'm Carrie Howard, LCSW. I specialize in helping adults who struggle with anxiety, OCD, chronic overthinking, perfectionism, and emotional avoidance. Many of my clients are high-achieving, thoughtful people who appear successful on the outside but feel exhausted by the constant mental noise happening inside their minds. My approach is both relational and evidence-based. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of healing, and I work hard to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and challenged in meaningful ways. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan based on your goals. I draw from CBT, ERP, ACT, mindfulness practices, and body-based interventions, while maintaining a trauma-informed approach to treatment. One of the core ideas that guides my work is that many people who struggle with anxiety and OCD aren't simply overthinking—they're often working very hard to avoid uncertainty, discomfort, vulnerability, or difficult emotions. Therapy isn't about forcing those feelings away. It's about building the skills and confidence to face them differently so they no longer control your life. In addition to my clinical work, I'm a writer and mental health educator. I've built an online community of nearly half a million people across platforms, where I share practical, compassionate education about anxiety, emotional health, and overthinking. My work has been featured in Good Morning America, Shape, Verywell Mind, HuffPost, HealthCentral, Peloton, and Everyday Health. I'm also a forthcoming author with HarperCollins (W Publishing). Most importantly, I believe people are far more resilient than anxiety leads them to believe. My goal is to help you get unstuck and reconnect with yourself, so you can get out of your head and back to living your life. *Be sure and check out my Instagram if you'd like to get a feel for my personality and what it's like to work with me!
