Introduction

Have you ever waded through a creek or river? It's hard to see the shape and position of rocks below and often slippery algae or uneven surfaces cause us to stumble. A strong hand from someone who has been there, who knows the river and kindly guides us can make all the difference. I think for all of us at times, life can feel like walking through that unfamiliar and dangerous river. I understand that. I'm here to walk beside you and support you in what is hard for you right now. As a therapist, I'm committed to helping you create connection in your relationships with others and within yourself. Our sessions will be a collaborative effort where your perspective and experiences are vital to all the work we do together. While recognizing the challenges in life, I have a belief in the ability each person has to progress and overcome difficulties. Learning to live together in love with others can be especially taxing. At times we may get “stuck” and need help to find our way. I am passionate about providing you tools to navigate these challenges so that you can find great satisfaction in both personal and relationship growth. I graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) are professionally trained to look at and treat both individual and relationship challenges in the context of your relationships. This is called a systemic perspective. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in South Carolina. I have received advanced training in evidence-based individual and family systems therapy models. Some of these include: Emotionally Focused Therapy (Externship and Core Skills completed) Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 certified) PREPARE-ENRICH (Premarital training and couples enrichment Facilitator) Love and Logic Parenting (Facilitator) Building a Lasting Connection (EFT based relationship education and enhancement for premarital and married couples) Association Memberships: American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) South Carolina Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (SCAMFT) ICEEFT (International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy) "The building blocks of a family are emotional bonds. The confidence one has in the security of these bonds is a resource of resilience for an individual but also for the family as a whole. . . Home is more than a geographical address, for when we describe being "at home" we are referring to an emotional state, and experience of belonging. Home is a point of origin, an orientation, and a consistent longing extending from a basic human need for belonging."* *From Emotionally Focused Family Therapy: Restoring Connection and Promoting Resilience by James Furrow, Gail Palmer, Susan Johnson, George Faller, and Lisa Palmer-Olsen
