I work with adults who want to live a life that isn’t dominated by shame, insecurity, anxiety and other common forms of suffering. I help clients build a compassionate relationship with themselves and the world around them that reduces self-defeating patterns and increases resiliency. I address many issues, including childhood trauma, depression and anxiety, relationship struggles, substance use, life transitions, and gender and sexuality exploration. I believe all people struggle with emotional pain, but with support and compassion, it is possible to live a life liberated from suffering. I relate to clients as unique individuals, not just as collections of diagnoses and problems. No approach is one-size-fits-all, so I explore what specific evidence-based models––including mindful, behavioral, psychodynamic, somatic, and trauma-focused––help my clients untangle from shame, insecurity, internalized oppression, and other sources of suffering. I understand the challenge of finding a therapist. It is important to consider fit in this process carefully. If you are interested in meeting with me, I offer a 15-minute phone or video consultation to help you get a feel for what it may be like to work with me. If we find we are not a fit, I will gladly offer other recommendations for the help you need.
