I am an art therapist with 5+ years of experience in community mental health including substance use, school-based therapy, residential for serious and persistent mental illness, and medication-assisted treatment. I utilize person-centered and trauma-informed approaches to focus on individual strengths that have allowed my clients to survive adversity. I also take a laid-back approach to cognitive behavioral therapy where we work together to learn how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact our experience. I utilize art as a way to externalize stressors, create new perspectives, and express oneself. We can use therapy to vent, explore support options, challenge maladaptive behaviors, hold grief, learn new coping skills, gain confidence, and so much more. I allow my clients to lead as we collaborate on an approach that best fits their needs. Sharing one's story can be intimidating, but I am honored to support people through hardship.
