Dr. Beard is a clinical psychologist and the founder of OpenWorld. She offers comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations, with a specialty in evaluating neurodiverse, gifted and twice-exceptional children and adults. Dr. Beard also provides individual therapy for people across the lifespan, with an emphasis on treating individuals with OCD, problematic technology use, mood difficulties, addictive behaviors, and chronic illness. Dr. Beard has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University in the Silicon Valley and has worked and received clinical training at UCSF, the University of Texas Health Science Center, Kaiser Permanente, and other settings. Dr. Beard has conducted international research on anxiety, self-esteem, and Internet Gaming Disorder, including working with colleagues in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and South Korea.
