Education is the foundation of being a therapist but experience is the walls. I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. This education, by itself, means little. Experience has enabled me to grow, develop new approaches and hone established skills. From early in my career I have been drawn to individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar, and PTSD. I recently completed a training through Postpartum Support International to work with women experiencing peri-natal and postpartum mood disturbances. I follow the person-centered approach, meeting the client where they are right now. Sometimes a look into the past can reveal answers to the issues of the present and aid in developing appropriate coping skills but we don't start there. We start in the here and now.
