Finding the right therapist can make an important difference in the therapeutic process. I believe that a strong connection and a good fit between therapist and client are essential, and I strive to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and respected. I’m Christian, a Licensed Psychologist with more than 20 years of experience working with adults of all ages, as well as teenagers. I provide counseling and consultation services in Iowa and Florida. I offer in-person appointments at my office in Ames, Iowa, across from The Café in Somerset, as well as virtual sessions throughout Iowa and Florida. I also offer flexible evening and weekend appointments. As a generalist, I work with a wide range of concerns and tailor therapy to each individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. I have particular expertise working with depression, relationships, trauma recovery, behavioral addictions, identity development, grief and loss, and other life challenges. I value working with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and welcome clients who may have felt misunderstood or marginalized in other settings. I’m comfortable exploring questions of identity, LGBTQIA+ identity, faith and spirituality, culture, relationships, and other aspects of what makes each person unique. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be open about who you are, what you believe, and what you’re experiencing without fear of judgment. My goal is not simply to help you get through a difficult period, but to help you better understand yourself, develop effective ways of coping, improve your relationships, and create meaningful and lasting changes in your life.
