Introduction

Christina Simmons is an integrative trauma therapist, Somatic Experiencing® practitioner, pranic healer, educator, and founder of Revitalizing Inner Self Essence®. She began her career in child welfare and later became a domestic violence advocate, where she worked closely with women navigating trauma, grief, and systemic injustice. She's worked in a variety of settings, including Federally Qualified Health Centers, outpatient mental health centers, non-profit organizations, hospitals, and state and local government agencies. Frustrated by the limits of traditional models, Christina chose to become the kind of therapist she wished existed—one who could walk beside clients through the full arc of healing, not just refer them out. As a Black, queer woman, she is deeply committed to creating liberatory, identity-affirming healing spaces where Black women and women of color can heal, be seen, and reclaim their power. With over a decade of experience, Christina blends evidence-based clinical approaches like EMDR, Hypnosis, and Somatic Experiencing® with ancestral healing, mind-body medicine, and energy psychology. Her practice centers the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and culture—because healing doesn’t stop at the surface. It’s a layered, lived process. Today, Christina offers individual services, healing workshops, clinical supervision, and community-based retreats that prioritize depth, reflection, and spiritual integration. She’s not a passive integrative practitioner who just nods along—she brings interactive feedback, compassion, and strategy, always honoring ancestral knowledge and trauma-informed care. She holds advanced certificates in trauma treatment, mind-body medicine, energy healing, functional nutrition, and clinical and applied hypnosis. Christina is also an associate trainer for the Danu Center for Strategic Advocacy. Outside of her work, Christina is a devoted reader, tea lover, foodie, and Mind-Body Medicine PhD student specializing in Integrative Mental Health, Clinical and Applied Hypnosis, and Integrative and Functional Nutrition. She enjoys meditating, exploring nature, and spending quality time with her wife and family.
