Dr. Christopher Hawkey (he/him) is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and is the Chief Clinical Officer for the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA. Dr. Hawkey has extensive training in evidence-based interventions with a focus on providing CBT and DBT to adolescents, adults, parents, and families. Dr. Hawkey is a DBT - Linehan Board Certified Clinician and has experience working with a variety of clinical presentations including anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, suicidal and self-harm behavior, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD. Dr. Hawkey takes special interest in serving sexual and gender minorities including women and the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Hawkey’s past research focused on suicide and self-harm in bipolar adolescents and family factors in adolescents with mood disorders. Dr. Hawkey received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Duke University School of Medicine, where he was the first-ever recipient of the Karen Wells Professionalism award. Dr. Hawkey then completed his post-doctoral residency at the Portland DBT Institute, which is the oldest free-standing DBT clinic in the world. Finally, Dr. Hawkey worked as operations director at CBT California before starting his own CBT/DBT practice.
