Introduction

I have a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from DBU, a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy with an emphasis in Ethics from Marquette University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Historical Theology from ORU. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas. I love working with adolescents, adults, and couples. My experience includes 10 years in the private practice setting working with individuals, couples and families. I have extensive experience working with foster children, post-adoption, and parents of children from hard places. In fact, I worked for 5 years (in collaboration with Cook Children’s and Superior Healthcare) as the Clinical Director of two nationally recognized family therapy programs, Turning Point and Summit House. As part of my training, I worked for 2 years as a family therapist at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents and for 1 year as a crisis counselor with Safe Haven of Tarrant County. I am research driven and will only utilize evidenced based interventions in counseling. While I am experienced in practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and using attachment models to understand family dynamics, I ultimately believe that counseling will only be effective if a safe and secure relationship is formed between the therapist and the client. This belief in the significance of felt safety underlies all my interactions with clients. I also believe that self-knowledge and insight are essential for clients to be able to maintain any progress they have experienced in therapy. A significant aspect of therapy, then, involves a guided journey to improved self-knowledge. Goal setting is a collaborative process and the methods used to reach these goals will be tailored to the unique person working with me. I have been privileged to counsel people from all different backgrounds and faith perspectives. I will incorporate matters of spirituality in counseling to the extent you desire.
