I grew up in Duluth and returned with my family in 2015 to take advantage of the connections to nature and the slower pace of life. In the interim, I earned a BA in International Studies at Macalester College, an M.Ed in Counselor Education at the University of Texas-Austin, and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and also completed a yearlong predoctoral internship at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. I currently offer in-person psychotherapy in Duluth, MN, and telehealth for adults in Minnesota and across 42 PSYPACT states. I use an integrative approach including the following modalities: Psychodynamic - I find that childhood experiences play a large role in how we relate to others and to ourselves, and I can help you to identify the patterns that aren't serving you any longer. Humanistic - I believe that humans are oriented toward growth and that each of us carries our own answers within. I can help you to access what you need to feel calm, clear, and courageous. Experiential - I adhere to the view that emotions are involuntary physiological responses designed to help us navigate our worlds. However, we often learn to block these responses as a way to adapt to our circumstances. When emotions are blocked, it can be harder to know who we are and what to do. I have specialized training in EMDR and ART, which are experiential eye movement therapies designed to target and heal emotions that are stuck.
