Introduction

About Me I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with nearly 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Minnesota State University Moorhead, followed by a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Science, with a concentration in Couple and Family Therapy, from North Dakota State University. My early clinical experience began at North Dakota State University's on-campus therapy center and within Fargo's Head Start program, where I gained experience in early childhood mental health, therapeutic play, parent-child relationships, and working with couples and families. I went on to work in community mental health and later outpatient settings, providing individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as developing and facilitating therapeutic groups. Working with people across different ages, circumstances, and settings has deepened my understanding of how our development, relationships, and the larger systems we live within shape our experiences throughout life. Today, my practice focuses primarily on adolescents and adults, from the teenage years through later adulthood. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, grief and loss, and life transitions. I have a particular interest in how our identities, relationships, and sense of self evolve throughout different stages of life. My Approach to Therapy I believe that understanding ourselves requires looking underneath the challenges that bring us to therapy. Our emotional and behavioral responses often make sense when considered in the context of our life histories, relationships, and experiences, even when those responses are no longer helpful to us. My approach is rooted in curiosity and a desire to understand not only what we think, feel, and do, but why. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, informed by ongoing training in human development, attachment, psychodynamic therapy, trauma treatment, and clinical hypnosis. I believe healing involves both the mind and body, and that meaningful change can come through deeper self-understanding, emotional processing, and new experiences. Above all, I view therapy as a collaborative process. My goal is to provide a space where people feel comfortable exploring their experiences with curiosity and without judgment. Through greater self-understanding, we can begin to recognize patterns that once felt beyond our control and see choices where before there seemed to be none.
