Introduction

Hello, I’m Courtney Schmidt, MS, LPC-Associate, and I’m glad you’re here. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate based in New Braunfels, Texas, providing teletherapy to clients throughout the state of Texas under clinical supervision. I was drawn to the counseling profession through a desire to walk alongside people as they navigate stress, trauma, identity questions, and life transitions—especially during moments when they may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of their next steps. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered care, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, emotional safety, and respect for each client’s lived experience. I work with adults and adolescents (14+), as well as couples, and I have experience supporting clients with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, self-esteem, identity exploration, anger, and substance-related concerns. My therapeutic style is eclectic and individualized. I draw from evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based practices, attachment theory, and person-centered therapy. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is tailored to your goals, values, and readiness for change. I view therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to provide support, clinical guidance, and a steady presence as we work together toward insight, growth, and meaningful change. Whether you are new to therapy or returning after time away, you are welcome to reach out to see if working together feels like a good fit.
