Introduction

Courtney Train's Credentials: -Registered Play Therapist™ -EMDR Practitioner by EMDRia -Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor -Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker -Certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner -Certified Yoga Instructor by A Work In Progress -Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Practitioner -Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist My work with clients focuses on building trust, embracing vulnerability, and empowering change. I use a neurobiological, attachment, and body-based approach to therapy. This means I might incorporate mindfulness, movement, nature, play, or art into sessions. I specialize in treating PTSD in young children, teens, and adults. I LOVE working with motivated individuals and families who've experieced complex trauma and are also open to non-traditional therapies such as EMDR, Havening Techniques®, and Sandtray Therapy. As a recovering people-pleaser, I also enjoy serving my fellow high-functioning, internalizing codependents and caretakers! My professional background is in interpersonal violence and family dysfunction. I partner with local victim advocacy organizations CAPS and DVACK to provide therapy to survivors of abuse. I also enjoy serving motivated and empathetic individuals who have perpetrated domestic or sexual violence and wish to understand and change their unhealthy/abusive behaviors. While I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor, addiction and substance use/abuse are not my specialty. I sought out training and licensure to better understand addiction as a symptom and coping mechanism of abuse and childhood trauma/neglect. If you are purely seeking addiciton treatment, please contact your local addiciton treatment center. I am a Kansas Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker, awarded "Excellence in the Mastery of Social Work" by Newman University. I also hold a Bachelor's in Communication Studies and a Minor in Peace Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College. As a lifelong learner, I am committed to finding the best interventions for each client. I am trained in various techniques and theories.
