Introduction

After spending my formative years as an undiagnosed neurodivergent female in the midst of the heavily neurotypical, binary focused, one size fits all culture of the 80’s and 90’s, I’m intimately aware of the seemingly infinite ways my brain “just doesn’t measure up”. From socially coached to submit first and think later, to countless teacher and peer misunderstandings to standardized tests and all the other biased measuring sticks like timers. You name it, I can probably relate on all things ADHD and female. Once I thankfully got diagnosed in my senior year of high school and even beforehand, I was passionate about rooting for others who might have felt the same way growing up. I was and still am most passionate about encouraging them they are just fine just the way they are in this very moment and beyond. We've all heard enough about how we don't make someone else's definition of "the cut." It's time we try our own hand at tailoring our own definition of success that takes our ADHD and our interests and talents into account. Sometimes to really get that success definition spot on for our own selves, it does take a chance to take compassionate and careful stock of the past not for the purpose of re-hashing old wounds, but to consider it through an ADHD lens and to get curious about specific values you already had back then that are viscerally important to you today and for the future. That's where EMDR comes in mighty handy! It's a not just verbal but body based method that supports the brain by stimulating the memory in a very supportive and relaxing state so you can isolate the meaning from what was and put it toward your future and let all the other unhelpful stuff just pass on by into the past, so the end result is that you can admit it happened in a logical way without your body feeling unsafe at all. The best part is that you are then free to savor the present and ready to dream well informed dreams about your own version of future success. If you are ready to realize your unique talents and strengths through EMDR and Yoga skills so you can achieve your dreams, you have come to the right place.
