Hello, I’m Dana Markee, MA, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor. I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with their innate resilience, embrace their authentic selves, and nurture deeper, more fulfilling relationships—with themselves and with others. My Background I hold a Bachelor of Science in Design Communication from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 20 years working with Fortune 100 companies as a marketing executive. Witnessing the toll of high-pressure careers on emotional well-being inspired me to pursue a new path—earning my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus on Professional Clinical Counseling at Touro University. I integrate somatic and EMDR-informed interventions into my practice, under supervision. I have completed certifications in Domestic Violence Counseling and Polyvagal Theory. My experience spans both community organizations and private practice, where I’ve supported adults, children, and families impacted by trauma and domestic violence. These experiences have grounded my dedication to trauma-informed, compassionate care that honors all identities and family structures. My Approach My work is holistic and client-centered, blending evidence-based modalities to meet each client’s unique needs. I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Theory (PVT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT-C), and the Gottman Method. Every session is collaborative, tailored, and empowering—designed to help clients heal, grow, and reconnect with their sense of possibility. My Focus I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to break old cycles, heal from trauma, navigate life transitions, recover from loss, manage substance use challenges, and rebuild connection. My door is open to clients of all ages and backgrounds, and my practice is anchored in a deep belief in human resilience, growth, and transformation. My Communication Style Clients often describe me as grounded, gentle, and authentic. I bring warmth, honesty, and transparency into our work—striking a balance between encouragement and gentle challenge. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and empowered to explore your truth at your own pace. My Goal for You Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you—it’s an opportunity to cultivate curiosity, courage, and compassion as you understand your patterns, process past experiences, and unlock your strengths. I’m here to help you see new possibilities, reclaim confidence, and create relationships that feel balanced and real. Celebrating your growth, facing obstacles together, and walking alongside you in this process is at the heart of why I became a therapist.
