People seek out a therapist for a number of different reasons. Troubling thoughts or emotions, difficultly in relationships, life transitions, traumatic experiences, or simply because they want to explore who they are and what they want in their lives. In therapy there is the possibility of hearing ourselves say what has remained unknown, unsaid, or unsayable. By developing awareness into the nature of the unknown parts of our-selves, we have an opportunity to look towards new futures, loosened from the ways in which our past can trap us. My approach is psychoanalytic, inviting clients to speak as freely as possible about their thoughts and feelings. I listen carefully and respond to what may be unknown or enigmatic in a client's speech, allowing clients to make new interpretations and enlarge the space available for the unheard parts of their-selves. I offer a nonjudgmental and attentive perspective to my clients, which is of the utmost necessity in making any therapeutic project possible.
