Introduction

My name is Daniel Cote, and I am a clinical mental health counselor currently completing my practicum as part of my master’s program at Old Dominion University. I hold a bachelor’s degree from ODU with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology. Frequently, clients come to counseling facing a multitude of past experiences, life problems, situations, and circumstances to address. Regardless of your reasoning to embark on your personal journey of growth, I will never claim to be the expert of your life. My dedication to our work together is not to give the “right” answer, but instead to assist you in developing the necessary tools to accomplish the goals you wish to achieve. While certain goals lead to certain preferences in my approach to our work together, your personal journey of growth should be tailored to YOUR unique needs and YOUR unique preferences, not mine. I integrate existential-humanistic principles in my work and incorporate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Positive Psychology. My work is closely supervised by Dr. Kinga Gudor to ensure the highest level of care. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space that fosters meaningful change and empowers you to create the road map to take you there! Goals are never accomplished without taking the first step I invite you to reach out, ask questions, or book an initial appointment
