Introduction

Resurgam is a Latin word which translates to "I shall rise again." It became a motto for Portland, Maine after many battles and fires had destroyed the city throughout the 18th and 19th century--the city always managed to persevere, rebuild, and prosper despite significant setbacks. Resurgam is meaningful as it pays homage to the strong character of the location of my practice, also my hometown, and it reinforces the power of resilience, which I believe is accessible to all people. As humans, we are designed to seek safe and secure connections, which includes unwavering acceptance and support, particularly in the face of adversity. Unfortunately, some people in childhood through adulthood do not receive nurturance which would enable them to gain healthy self-concept. This lack of support can contribute to maladaptive coping strategies including issues with substances, relationships, and career. I aim to provide a safe haven and secure base for individuals and couples to address these issues, receive support, and gain holistic balance. I am passionate about serving LGBTQ+, particularly bisexual, clients. My approach starts with building a safe, trusting relationship. We will collaboratively explore how your past has shaped your present and how systemic cultural and sociopolitical issues also impact your life. I use tools from AEDP, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Nonviolent Communication, and Gottman Method to cultivate self-worth and improve relationships. If you are tired of feeling stuck in a pattern which is not serving you, it does not have to be your story. Your courage in seeking support is powerful, and your pain is real. If you're ready to step into a secure, affirming space built specifically for your healing, please reach out. I look forward to beginning our work together.
