Welcome! I'm David Fernandez, a graduate student at the College of William & Mary and a counseling intern at the Falls Church Wellness Center. I assist adults of all ages and backgrounds in creating meaningful lives by offering a safe space to explore identity, practice new ways of relating to themselves and others, and overcome obstacles to authenticity—such as perfectionism and anxiety. As a queer, neurodivergent person of color, I understand the unique challenges that LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and BIPOC individuals face and prioritize creating culturally affirming spaces, drawing from my own lived experience. My approach—rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and person-centered care—invites you to bring your whole self into our sessions, whether individually or as part of a couple seeking to reconnect, repair, or grow together. Before entering the mental health field, I worked as an exercise physiologist, assisting individuals with chronic health conditions in regaining confidence in their bodies. This role strengthened my dedication to helping clients cultivate self-trust and resilience. Whether you're dealing with health challenges or navigating other aspects of life, I am committed to being a supportive presence on your journey. If you're ready to take the next step toward greater calm, clarity, and confidence, please reach out to schedule a phone or video consultation or to set up an initial appointment. I look forward to meeting you and embarking on a path of authenticity and personal growth together!
