I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate with over 30 years of experience working with students and families grades 6-12. For 26 of those years, I worked alongside twice-exceptional, LGBTQIA+, and disenfranchised youth in a public alternative high school: students whose lateral wisdom and lived complexity consistently challenged and expanded my practice and being. I specialize in neurodivergent populations, LGBTQIA+, chronic illness, school refusal, and the intersection of identity, executive functioning, joy, creativity, and mental health for all ages. My approach draws on person-centered, constructivist methods, and I am currently building this private practice alongside part-time work in education. My ideal client is someone who doesn't fit neatly into one or two identity boxes and feels limited (and yet maybe drawn to?) the concept of labels. Labels help, labels hurt, labels limit, labels liberate. Is Lunarlaf Counseling right for you: so many people have told me that I create safe space. When we work together, I draw on decades of experiencing drawing people out in groups and individual advising. I went into teaching wanting to empower people with literacy, I learned that my gift was in co-creating safe space for others to discover who they are, have been, and are becoming. I can do that for you.
