Introduction

I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, communication issues, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, intimacy concerns, and life transitions. My specialties include couples therapy, men’s issues, sexual health, intimacy, passion, and helping clients better understand themselves and their relationships. Working with men has become a major passion of mine because there are so many conversations men are not given space to have openly—around pressure, anxiety, emotional expectations, relationships, masculinity, and life adjustments. I create a space where clients feel comfortable being honest without feeling judged. In couples work, I serve as the unbiased third party helping both partners identify the real issues, improve communication, and understand what it realistically takes to make the relationship work—if that is the direction they choose. My goal is not to “fix” couples, but to help them gain clarity, insight, and healthier ways of relating to one another. My therapy style is direct, conversational, and engaging. Therapy with me feels less clinical and more like talking with the homegirl who’s going to tell you the truth while helping you connect the dots. Clients often leave sessions laughing, reflecting, and occasionally saying, “Damn… that was rude,” while realizing something important finally clicked. As the owner of JL Family Services, I created a practice that helps make therapy feel more approachable and relatable for people who may not have previously felt connected to therapy spaces. I believe in helping clients feel less stuck, more self-aware, and more confident in understanding the “why” behind their patterns, relationships, and choices. Or as I like to say: “If you like it, I love it… as long as we know what’s going on and why.”
