Most people who reach out are not looking for a theory. They are tired of the same argument, the same shutdown, and the feeling that talking no longer changes anything. Women often describe the exhaustion of not being truly heard. Men often want to understand their partner and stop the slow drift — without being treated as the person who needs to be fixed. Left alone, that pattern creates distance. For men carrying work pressure, past trauma, or military service, it can also wear on identity. Therapy with me is straightforward. We name the pattern, build practical skills for listening and responding, and review whether the week is actually changing. No taking sides. No circling childhood for a year before anyone gets a tool. I am Dr. Elvin Peace, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I hold a PhD in Leadership. I work with couples and with men in New Bern, in the office and by telehealth. Desert Storm service and a Stoic-informed lens shape how I work with high-responsibility men.
