Dr. Ignacio Alegre

Dr. Alegre is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) and dedicated mental health professional with over 15 years of experience helping individuals heal, grow, and reclaim their strength. As the Chief Operating Officer and Clinician of Bold Within, Dr. Alegre is passionate about guiding people toward emotional resilience, personal empowerment, and meaningful transformation. Drawing from a rich educational background—including a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from the University of Southern California, a master’s in counseling from San Diego State University, and a Master’s in Sociology and bachelor’s in psychology from California State University, Fullerton—Dr. Alegre blends clinical expertise with a deep understanding of human behavior and social systems. In his work, Dr. Alegre focuses on helping clients overcome trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions through a compassionate, evidence-based approach. His philosophy centers on the belief that healing begins when individuals learn to face challenges with courage and authenticity—discovering the power that has always been within them. Dr. Alegre has taught diverse courses in psychology, sociology, and counseling at Cypress College, Cerritos College, California State University, Fullerton and at La Sierra University. With a background in leadership, management, education, and vocational rehabilitation, Dr. Alegre also brings a holistic perspective to therapy, recognizing how personal, social, and occupational factors intersect to shape well-being.
