Introduction

Are you tired of feeling stuck? Tired of repeating the same patterns, having the same arguments, fighting the same battles with yourself, and wondering why nothing seems to change? Here's the truth: growth doesn't happen by wishing things were different. Change happens when we are willing to look honestly at what's keeping us stuck, understand where those patterns came from, and intentionally plant new seeds. I'm Dr. Jessica Cullen, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Clinical Supervisor, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), counselor educator, and researcher with more than 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship challenges, grief, and major life transitions. At Seeds of Life Neurocounseling, I believe healing happens when we understand both the roots of our struggles and the science behind our experiences. Our brains, bodies, relationships, and life experiences all influence how we think, feel, and respond to the world. When we understand those connections, we gain the power to create meaningful change. My approach combines neuroscience-informed counseling with evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Brainspotting, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care. I believe growth starts with honesty. Real honesty. The kind that isn't always pretty. In our work together, you're welcome to bring the frustration, the tears, the humor, the confusion, the anger, and yes—even the colorful language. Life can be hard, and sometimes "I'm struggling" doesn't fully capture it. This is a judgment-free space where you can be fully yourself while we work together to understand the roots of what's happening and plant the seeds for meaningful change. I bring authenticity, compassion, and honesty into the therapy room. While I offer support and validation, I also believe meaningful growth sometimes requires direct conversations and gentle challenges. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be holding you back, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that help you move toward the life you want to create. As a Clinical Supervisor and Adjunct Professor in Counselor Education, I am passionate about mentoring future counselors and advancing neuroscience-informed counseling practices. My doctoral research focused on how counselors integrate brain-based concepts into therapy, and that work continues to shape my clinical practice today. My philosophy is simple: we cannot change what we refuse to examine. Together, we'll explore the roots of your experiences, identify the seeds you want to cultivate, and create a path forward that aligns with the life you want to build. It is not what is wrong with you it is what happened to you! Healing is not about becoming someone different. It's about understanding yourself more fully, nurturing what helps you grow, and learning how to thrive. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, substance use, relationship concerns, burnout, or simply feeling stuck, you don't have to navigate it alone. The life you want doesn't grow overnight—but every lasting transformation begins with a single seed. 🌱
