I want to do good work in the world. Sometimes this means I get worried and stressed or I overwork to compensate for feeling like I'm not doing enough or could do better! Over the years, I've learned to work with this anxious energy. Rather than something I need to get rid of, I see this energy as a a powerful force that can be channeled for good. In my 20 years as a counselor and coach, I've worked with hundreds of professionals and emerging leaders in high-stress careers such as healthcare and the creative arts. I am passionate about helping high-achieving individuals learn tools to release self-limiting patterns so they can live more in alignment with who they are meant to be. @@----HOW I WORK----@@ I am trained and certified in lots of approaches that can help, Including: * EMDR * Somatic experiencing * Internal Family Systems (IFS) * Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Therapy * Acceptance & Commitment Therapy * Gottman Couples Therapy What matters most is that I will work with you to tailor a practical approach that will focus on your whole being - body & mind. My heart's intention is to create spaces where people are seen and heard. My clients say that I am warm, compassionate, practical, and playful. I blend challenge and support with skill-building so you can cultivate the life you long to live. Philosophically, my practice is grounded in the perspective that we are all innately resourceful and whole, that change and growth occur in a non-judgmental environment that balances challenge and support, and that inspired action emerges from self-understanding and self-leadership. @@----HOW & WHEN I SEE CLIENTS----@@ I primarily see my clients virtually with some limited in-person. My hours are: * Monday-Thursday: 7-9 am; 5-8 pm * Friday: 7-9 am; 2-5 pm @@---EMDR/IFS Intensives----@@ Life can get crazy busy and carving out time for traditional sessions may not work with your schedule. EMDR/IFS intensives are a great way to turbocharge your healing process. Intensives range from either 3-hour stints or 5 hours/day for 3 days in a row. I love intensives! We get focused and go deep. Together, we create a sweet cocoon of insight and integration focused on you! @@----MY BACKGROUND----@@ In addition to my private coaching & counseling practice, I serve as the Director of the Counseling & Well-Being Services at Wake Forest University's School of Medicine. Prior to returning to school for counseling, I worked in journalism and public relations for a decade. Although I loved the creative nature of the work, I wanted to do more one-on-one work with individuals. After completing my Ph.D., I worked as a counselor at UNC School of the Arts and at UNC-Asheville as their clinical director. In these positions, I have been fortunate to work with many creative, high-achieving individuals who are deeply committed to making a difference. @@----I AM A GOOD FIT IF----@@ * You are dealing with perfectionism, analysis paralysis, imposter syndrome, life transition, burnout. * You are ready to invest in yourself. * You are committed to doing the work needed for change. * You are feeling a little scared AND excited about the prospect of being seen and supported in your process of change. @@----I AM NOT A GOOD FIT IF----@@ * You have worked with many other counselors or coaches and found none of them helpful. @@----CONSULTS----@@ Use the "request appointment" button to schedule a free, 15-minute consult.
