Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns in dating and relationships—even when you know those patterns are no longer serving you? Maybe you struggle with anxious attachment, overthinking, people-pleasing, emotional unavailability, trauma bonds, limerence, or losing yourself to maintain connection. Or perhaps you are navigating grief, burnout, anxiety, ADHD, PMDD, betrayal, family conflict, or a major life transition and are ready for deeper support. I am Dr. Rachel Sims, a Licensed Professional Counselor, attachment specialist, former teacher and coach, and the owner of Uncomplicated Therapy. I am also the co-founder of Breath By Design, where I facilitate therapist-led, trauma-informed, neuroscience-based 9D Somatic Breathwork experiences. My work bridges the gap between traditional therapy, nervous system healing, somatic breathwork, coaching, and plant-medicine preparation and integration. I believe healing is not limited to what happens while sitting in a therapist’s office. Lasting change requires us to understand our patterns, work with the nervous system, safely process what the body has been holding, and integrate new insights into everyday life. Therapy helps us understand the story. Somatic work allows us to recognize how that story lives in the body. Breathwork can help us access emotions, protective responses, and subconscious patterns that may be difficult to reach through conversation alone. Plant-medicine preparation and integration can help individuals approach expanded states of consciousness with greater intention and process what arises afterward in a grounded and meaningful way. I provide individual therapy and couples therapy for adults who want to understand themselves more deeply and create healthier patterns. Attachment theory is my specialty and truly my “jam.” I frequently support clients experiencing anxious or avoidant attachment, fear of abandonment, relationship anxiety, difficulty setting boundaries, betrayal, trauma bonds, unhealthy relationship cycles, grief, burnout, anxiety, panic, self-worth challenges, and major life transitions. I also help couples improve communication, rebuild trust, understand their attachment dynamics, navigate conflict, and create greater emotional safety and connection. Premarital counseling using Prepare/Enrich is available for couples who want to build a strong and intentional foundation before marriage. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, direct, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate attachment-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, nervous system education, and somatic tools. Therapy with me is not about being judged, diagnosed by your hardest moments, or told how to live your life. You are the expert on your own experiences. My role is to help you understand the “why” behind your patterns, recognize what your nervous system has learned, build practical tools, and reconnect with the parts of yourself you may have abandoned to feel safe or accepted. In addition to traditional therapy, I offer private one-on-one neuroscience-based 9D Somatic Breathwork experiences. These immersive sessions combine intentional breathing, sound, somatic guidance, subconscious reprogramming, and nervous system support. Journeys range from gentle down-regulation and nervous system restoration to deeper emotional release and activation. Breathwork may support individuals experiencing chronic stress, emotional shutdown, burnout, difficulty accessing emotions, or a desire for deeper self-exploration. Through Breath By Design, I also facilitate online and in-person group breathwork experiences, private sessions, corporate wellness events, community events, and retreat experiences. These offerings are therapist-led and trauma-informed, creating a bridge between mental health education and experiential healing. I also support individuals preparing for or integrating experiences involving ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, San Pedro, and other plant medicines. This work may include clarifying intentions, exploring fears and expectations, understanding emotional or relational themes, processing insights, and creating realistic ways to integrate those insights into daily life. I do not prescribe, provide, or administer psychedelic substances. My role is to offer therapeutic preparation and integration support within my professional scope. I help lead plant-medicine retreats in partnership with established retreat centers, including retreat experiences in Peru. These retreats may involve traditional plant-medicine ceremonies, somatic healing, breathwork, education, community support, and structured preparation and integration. My focus is helping participants approach these experiences intentionally and continue the work after they return home. The ceremony may create an opening, but integration is where that experience becomes part of your relationships, choices, boundaries, and everyday life. For those seeking structured personal growth outside of psychotherapy, I created the Uncomplicated Healing Method™—a 12-week coaching and breathwork container focused on attachment, nervous system regulation, boundaries, self-trust, emotional healing, and self-leadership. Participants receive weekly coaching and guided breathwork experiences, along with a workbook for reflection and integration. Core, Premium, and VIP options provide different levels of group and individual support. Coaching is separate from psychotherapy and is designed for personal development rather than the diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions. Before becoming a therapist, I spent ten years as a teacher and coach. That experience continues to shape the way I work today. I value education, honest conversations, practical tools, and helping people understand what is happening within them rather than simply telling them what to do. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University–Kingsville and later completed my Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a lifelong learner, I remain committed to expanding my clinical knowledge and bringing together approaches that support emotional, relational, somatic, and whole-person healing. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you have spent years taking care of everyone else, minimizing your needs, or trying to heal entirely on your own. Finding someone whose personality, energy, and approach feel right matters. My goal is to provide a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore what hurts, and empowered enough to create meaningful change. You do not need to become an entirely different person. You may simply need help understanding yourself, regulating your nervous system, trusting your voice, and learning how to stop abandoning yourself to maintain connection. Whether you are seeking one-on-one therapy, couples counseling, neuroscience-based breathwork, plant-medicine preparation and integration, retreat support, or a structured coaching container, we can explore the level of care that best fits where you are now. Let’s uncomplicate therapy, and create a healing process that supports your mind, body, relationships, and life.
