Introduction

If you're curious about starting therapy, you're in the right place! Starting therapy is a big step and finding a therapist that you connect with can sometimes feel overwhelming. When I meet with a new client, my first priority is to create a space where you feel safe, free from judgment, and comfortable expressing yourself openly. I often use humor in my work and very much enjoy the process of getting to know each of my client's unique personalities and strengths. You might have some specific concerns in mind, or you might not be sure where to begin, and that’s completely okay. Figuring things out together is an important part of the process. In our work together, we'll focus on practical tools to help you calm anxiety, regulate emotions, and feel more grounded, while also exploring the deeper patterns that show up in relationships. Our collaborative work focuses on helping you achieve your goals, alleviate challenging symptoms, and cultivate a more fulfilling, connected, and authentic life. Sessions are honest and supportive, balancing skills with insight. There is space here for both laughter and tears, because meaningful work often includes both. I work with adults and couples on a variety of concerns, including stress and adjustment challenges, relationship and attachment issues, boundaries, life transitions, and mood disorders like anxiety. My approach is client-centered, combining evidence-based techniques with holistic perspectives to support you in a way that feels right for you. Please note, my practice is entirely virtual. A little more about Dr, Schwerdel: Over the past two decades, Dr. Schwerdel has worked as a group private practice clinician, program coordinator, and agency liaison in substance abuse and mental health clinics. Outside of her clinical practice, she works as an adjunct professor. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets, being outdoors, traveling, and volunteering. “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." -Anais Nin
