Home Away from Home Therapeutic Center (HAHTC) LLC is a trauma-informed outpatient mental health private practice facility rooted in compassion, cultural responsiveness, and a commitment to serving individuals and families across Kentucky, especially the Chickasaw community of West Louisville. HAHTC was founded on August 10, 2019 by Dr. Shaquilla Cooper, DSW, CSA-S, TCM-S, TF-CBT, LCSW-S. Dr. Cooper is a therapist, educator, consultant, and community advocate dedicated to advancing mental wellness, collective healing, and equitable access to care. Dr. Cooper began her social work journey in 2014 after years of informally supporting others through guidance, resources, and emotional care—experiences that led her to pursue professional training in the field. She holds a Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S). She is a state-certified Targeted Case Manager Supervisor (TCM-S), a Community Support Associate Supervisor (CSA-S), and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her clinical lens centers trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally grounded care. With extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families, Dr. Cooper integrates evidence-based practice with a deep commitment to addressing racial trauma, life stressors, grief, and the impacts of systemic inequities. Throughout her career, she has mentored emerging social workers, supervised clinical staff, and partnered with community organizations to expand mental health access and promote holistic wellbeing. Her lifelong mission is to restore hope, strengthen families, and build pathways to wellness for under-resourced communities. Through Home Away from Home Therapeutic Center LLC, Dr. Cooper and her team work to ensure every client feels seen, supported, and empowered on their journey toward healing.
