***I strive to deeply understand and empathize with my clients’ lived experiences, work closely with clients who are all too often marginalized, and intentionally create a therapy room that is sex-positive and affirming — a space where all parts of you and your relationships are respected. And if we can find the humor and laugh together amidst it all, I'd say we are doing good work.*** I began my career as a youth grief counselor, an experience that gave me profound respect for how to sit with people in their hardest moments. That work inspired me to pursue advanced clinical training, and I went on to earn both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Couples and Family Therapy. I originally imagined I would spend my career working exclusively with children — but my path evolved. During my training, I was exposed to a range of specialties that broadened my perspective and deepened my skills. I have worked extensively with individuals navigating substance use, recovery, and self-harm, and in pediatric hospital settings, including oncology and the PICU. Each of these experiences sharpened my clinical skills and strengthened my respect for the resilience of the clients who trusted me with their care. Today, much of my work focuses on couples and relationships (inclusive to all relationship and sexual orientations). Using evidence-based approaches, I help partners navigate disconnection, conflict, and repair — work that I find deeply meaningful. I work with relationships and individuals about sex - either sex therapy or exploring the relationship to sex and intimacy. I also consult with athletes and coaches, particularly in women’s sports. The pressure placed on athletes can be immense, and I care deeply about protecting mental health and well-being in environments that often prioritize performance at any cost. In addition to my clinical work, I am a professor in the Couples and Family Therapy program at the University of Oregon. Teaching keeps me closely connected to current research and best practices, and I am continually learning alongside my students. I see clients one day per week, so we will discuss scheduling carefully to ensure it’s a good fit, as availability in my practice is limited.
