Introduction

Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma, Addiction & High-Stress Roles I help teens, adults, families, veterans, first responders, and DOT safety-sensitive professionals manage anxiety, trauma, burnout, and substance use with steady, practical support that fits real life. In-person and secure telehealth sessions available. If you’re here, you’re probably exhausted — mentally, emotionally, or both. Tired of being the one who holds everything together. Tired of pushing through anxiety, stress, or habits you’ve tried to manage on your own. Maybe you’re a teen who feels misunderstood. A parent running on empty. A veteran or first responder carrying more than you talk about. Or a DOT safety-sensitive professional worried one mistake could cost everything. You’re not weak. You’re overwhelmed — and support can make a real difference. How I Help I’m Winifred Okafor, M.A., LCDC, NCC, CCS, ICADC, SAP, a behavioral health therapist providing therapy for teens, adults, families, veterans, military families, first responders, and individuals in U.S. DOT-mandated safety-sensitive positions. Many of my clients come in struggling with: Anxiety or chronic stress Depression or burnout Trauma or PTSD Alcohol or substance use concerns Anger or impulsive behaviors High-pressure work environments Life transitions or feeling stuck They often feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start — and that’s okay. What Therapy With Me Is Like We slow things down. Not everything needs to be fixed at once. We focus on understanding what’s underneath the stress, anxiety, or patterns that keep repeating — and then we build a plan that works for your life. My approach is practical, supportive, and non-judgmental. You can expect tools you can actually use, including: CBT strategies for anxiety and overthinking Emotion-regulation and coping skills for stress and anger Trauma-informed support for PTSD and unresolved experiences Relapse-prevention and substance-use counseling without shame Goal-focused strategies to help you regain stability and direction Each session ends with a clear, manageable step — something you can apply right away when life gets heavy again. Who I Work With I provide therapy and assessments for individuals dealing with: Anxiety, depression, and burnout Addiction and substance use disorders Anger, impulsivity, or theft-related behaviors Teen and parenting challenges Motherhood stress and identity changes Military and veteran mental health concerns First responder stress and trauma DOT SAP evaluations and return-to-duty support Life changes, grief, and emotional overwhelm Immigration evaluations and clinical assessments (including Alcohol and Drug Assessments for DUI/ DWI) You don’t have to explain your world to me. I understand high-stress roles, complex family systems, and the pressure to “keep it together.” My Style as a Therapist Clients describe me as grounding, steady, and easy to talk to. I offer compassion with accountability — honest conversations, practical guidance, and support that helps you feel calmer and more in control, not judged or rushed. You don’t need to have the right words. You don’t need to be strong all the time. You just need a place to start. Next Steps Therapy sessions are available in person or via secure telehealth, depending on what works best for your schedule and needs. 📞 Call: (214) 466-7403 If you’re ready for support that feels steady, realistic, and respectful of your life, I’d be honored to work with you.
