Introduction

Hello! Welcome to my profile. I appreciate you being here and commend your bravery for considering therapy, whether that is with me or not. I believe in creating relationships that are largely client-led, as no one understands the reality you live in better than you. I practice therapy from a postmodern, queer, and liberatory approach that is trauma-sensitive, focusing on resilience and strengths. To me, being queer means being able to be who you want to be with open love and expression and supporting this freedom in others. Liberation is an ongoing process that we engage in with each other, for our mutual benefit. Liberation is a strong tenet of what I believe and practice because through liberation, discrimination and persecution can lessen, and community, virtues, and capacity for joy can strengthen. I center on philosophies such as love, self-acceptance, non-pathology, and liberation. I believe the violence of being oppressed impacts the psyche of the individual and everyday relationships with each other and the culture. To continue liberating ourselves, we need empowerment and an understanding of the impact of said violence, while also honoring ourselves, our bodies, and our chosen cultures, families, and values. By working to understand power and resistance in wider systems, we can highlight how reality is influenced by external forces and how you have already resisted and use this wisdom to continue on the deep quest for freedom. As a therapist, I can model practices such as setting boundaries, taking personal space, and expressing anger. I can hold your grief, anger, and other emotions that are often shunned from expression. Through our passionate partnership, you can learn how to keep and express your feelings in ways that align with who you are. If you are interested in what we can create together, please reach out. Therapy is a journey, and I would love to begin one with you.
