Becoming a parent is a wonderful experience. It is also overwhelming, anxiety-producing, and sometimes even heartbreaking. This journey begins with the decision to start a family (or news that your family is already starting) and never ends. Whether you are struggling to create a family, dealing with a complicated pregnancy, or coping with difficult feelings despite having the family you have always wanted, this transition is hard. And while some changes are welcomed, many are uncomfortable and look nothing like the life you had envisioned. I have worked with pregnant and postpartum women and families for more than 25 years; first as an OB nurse and then as a therapist. I have experience working with high-risk pregnancies, postpartum depression and anxiety, pregnancy loss, and traumatic birth experiences. I am a certified in perinatal mental health and trained in adoption competency. In addition to my professional training and years of experience, I am a mother of four and I understand the complexity that comes with creating the family you want.
