Welcome, my name is Elizabeth Greene (Liz) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I hold a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I have worked in the counseling profession with diverse populations and ages for over 18 years. My area of specialty surrounds relationships; those who are seeking to understand the dynamics of the relationship that a person has with their inner self, & the relationships that a person has with others; those seeking to improve various types of relationships; intimate (sexual & non-sexual), family, interpersonal, and/or professional, as well as, providing mental and emotional support during life’s difficult times & transitions, including those heavily impacted by military related issues. Understanding variables that contribute to how relationships are shaped, the thoughts & emotions that accompany various relationships, and processing that dynamic in each capacity, is sometimes where I may be asked to help. My role is to: facilitate the process that will help identify contributing factors to unhealthy patterns, as well as help to identify the barriers to eliminating the unhealthy patterns within the relationship one developed individually or with others. Additionally, my role is to help clients develop the skillset needed to manage other challenges faced throughout the process. Other areas that I address are personality disorders, depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, family systems, mood issues, parenting issues, trauma and stress-related disorders, and self-esteem/self-confidence. My experience in working with adults, (couples/married/single), families, and teens has afforded me the opportunity to support those seeking to improve various types of relationships; intimate (sexual & non-sexual), family, interpersonal, and/or professional, as well as, providing mental and emotional support during life’s difficult times & transitions, including those heavily impacted by military related issues. My time on active duty while serving in U.S. Army has motivated me to continue to support service members, veterans, their family members, as well as those who work closely or organizations affiliated with the armed forces. In addition to my experience in the service, 2 combat tours, and various training; my role as a military family member has also contributed to my experience in military related issues. My approach to therapy is direct yet kind, interactive, informative, and collaborative. I am a Systems based, Behavioral, and Solution-Focused therapist. However, my primary treatment modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also integrate other helpful modalities to help you explore the way that you think, feel, act, and communicate. My non-judgmental counseling approach serves to help you reach your desired outcome through guidance, communication, education, and other methods that are supportive and applicable to your unique situation. Ultimately, my clientele consists of those who are seeking to understand and manage symptoms that create barriers to mental stability, as well as other life disruptions, or simply causing them to feel stuck. I help clients identify and develop realistic goals and strategies that align with an overall managed & stable mental health and well-being. My goal is to make the counseling process as welcoming as possible in a collaborative way that can serve to further uncover your strengths, mental and emotional challenges.
