Introduction

I’m Emilee, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, and I bring both professional expertise and lived empathy to my work. I earned my Master of Social Work from Tulane University, where I specialized in Disaster and Collective Trauma. My clinical foundation is rooted in trauma-informed care, and I integrate evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With compassion and clarity, I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and PTSD. My approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that healing is possible—even in the aftermath of profound challenge. I help individuals reconnect with their resilience, strengthen self-compassion, and rediscover a sense of purpose and direction. I have a special heart for first responders, healthcare professionals, and military members. Having worked for years as a first responder in 9-1-1 centers in both Durham and Western North Carolina, I understand the unique pressures that come with roles built around responsibility, exposure to trauma, and the expectation to stay strong for others. I am passionate about supporting those who serve on the front lines—people who are often the helpers, but don’t always get the space to be cared for themselves. My work with these communities focuses on stress, burnout, critical incident exposure, moral injury, and the cumulative weight of high-stakes service roles. I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and provide debriefings and support during crisis events. I am also pursuing advanced training in Brainspotting to further expand my work in trauma processing and healing. My path into this work is also personal. Alongside my background in emergency services and healthcare roles—including work as a CNA and even a mail carrier—I have navigated my own health journey with hEDS, POTS, food addiction, and bariatric surgery, as well as caregiving for loved ones facing chronic illness and end-of-life care. These experiences inform my deep respect for the courage it takes to live with uncertainty, pain, and change. In every session, I strive to offer a safe, grounded space where clients can process their experiences and move forward with strength and support.
