Introduction

Dr. Emily Caproni is a psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood, and trauma related disorders, as well as, adjustment issues pertaining to family conflicts, school related concerns and identity issues with children, adolescents, families, and adults. 
Dr. Caproni is focused on a wholistic, patient-centered approach towards wellness, incorporating the patient’s strengths, an understanding of their background, culture and life experiences to guide the patient towards growth, change and healing. Dr. Caproni is particularly interested in the treatment of children and adolescents who are experiencing significant anxiety, panic, depression, and familial conflict. Her passion was fueled by her work at the University of Miami Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment Program where she led group parent-training and group therapy using the Unified -Protocol for Emotional Disorders in Children (UP-C). Dr. Caproni also served as a coordinator for the Brave Bunch Intensive Treatment Program at Florida international University, facilitating services for children with anxiety and selective mutism. She is familiar with existential and health psychology having worked in a pediatric nursing facility with medically complex patients. During her APA accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship at Memorial Regional Hospital, Dr. Caproni worked with both adult and child psychiatric inpatient populations, dealing with significant mental health issues compounded by COVID-19 pandemic stressors. She also assisted in a research study focusing on the characteristics of resiliency within her team of medical coworkers. Dr. Caproni graduated from Florida International University Honors College with a B.A. in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology. She has presented and co-authored posters and research papers on child anxiety disorders and selective mutism at academic and parent focused conferences. Dr. Caproni is well versed in humanistic and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Additionally, she is fluent in conversational Spanish.
