As a Black/African American woman, I’m passionate about working with people of color especially LGBTQIA+ individuals to destigmatize mental health in our communities and explore how systemic racism and oppression affect our wellbeing. My therapeutic approach is warm, client-centered, and strengths-based. Using Motivational Interviewing and harm reduction techniques, I collaborate with clients to create thorough, client-driven assessments of their mental health needs. With Reality Therapy and cognitive-behavioral strategies, I quickly build rapport and engage clients, then support them in developing and progressing toward individualized growth plans. Over the course of my experience I have developed skills in providing therapy to underrepresented, underserviced families, children, individuals, and couples. I also have a wealth of experience supporting youth involved in the juvenile justice system, oppositional teens, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
