ABOUT THE PROVIDER Hello! I’m Erica, the owner and provider at Advocate Psych, where my goal is to create a welcoming, down-to-earth space where you feel heard, understood, and genuinely supported. I’m originally from Mississippi, and nursing is my second career. Before becoming a nurse, I spent about 15 years in customer service, sales, engineering, and operations. Those roles helped me develop skills in listening, problem-solving, and connecting with people in a real, human way, qualities that enhance the care I provide. I earned my MSN from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later completed my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) post-master’s certification at South College in Knoxville, Tennessee. My nursing journey began in critical care, working across all ICU specialties. Even in those intense environments, mental health was always part of the picture. Over time, I found myself drawn to the emotional side of patient care, the part that often gets overlooked. That passion led me to an inpatient crisis stabilization unit for adults, and later to outpatient mental health clinics where I worked with kids, teens, and adults—experiences that ultimately brought me here to you. Along the way, I served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the International Clinical Nurse Leader Association for four and a half years and worked as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) on a neurosurgery unit at Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’ve cared for patients recovering from strokes, spinal surgeries, and spinal cord injuries. These experiences shaped how I understand people, stress, trauma, and resilience. I’m a big believer in lifelong learning, honest conversations, and evidence-based care. I care deeply about helping people find clarity and feel better. I believe mental health treatment looks different for everyone: sometimes therapy, sometimes medication, sometimes a combination of both, but it always requires you. My purpose is to collaborate with you and help you move in the direction that feels right. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active with pilates, rowing, and spin, playing golf, fishing, and cruising the lake. I also love cooking, watching movies, and cheering on my Marquette Golden Eagles basketball team. I’m here to help you feel supported, heard, and empowered. Life has its challenges, and you don’t have to face them alone. There is a better way forward, and we will figure it out together. If you or someone you love could benefit from supportive, evidence-based care and are located in North Carolina, Wyoming, or Montana, I’d be honored to support you. You can schedule a time that works best for you, and I’m here whenever you’re ready.
