Hello, my name is Erick Carrera and I’m a bilingual, Mexican-American therapist from Southern California. I first began as an advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence and eventually became a psychotherapist where I find joy in supporting BIPOC, Neurodivergent, and Queer folk. We may be a good fit for therapy if you are looking to: explore patterns that no longer serve you, improve your relationships and communication skills, explore your identity, find ways to honor and reconnect with your values and deep sense of knowing, or seeking ways to cope with anxiety, depression or the weight of living in this society. As a therapist, I work collaboratively to identify areas for growth, set attainable goals, and openly address concerns as they arise. I pull from various therapeutic frameworks and my core tenets for therapy include: I believe it is important to explore the link between your distress and the impact that larger systems (ex: family, community, politics, culture, society, economy) have on your mental health, that meaningful change and healing is done in conjunction and community with others, and that healing is often an experiential process. Please feel free to reach out and together we can decide if we're a good fit for therapy, or at least narrow down the type of support you're needing in this time of your life. I wish you the absolute best on this journey that you are embarking on.
