Introduction

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Certified Teacher with 28 years’ experience as a K-2 teacher. I earned my undergraduate in Community Health Education at Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University. I am EMDR Trained, Trauma- Focused CBT Trained, and also have training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, United Protocol and the FIRST Program. I hold endorsements for Gifted and Talented and English as a Second Language in Texas. Over the years, I have had opportunities to work with a wide population from toddlers, teens, through senior adults. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups in private practice, non-profit counseling center, university programs, online counseling, and with first responder communities. I work with children, school-related management issues, emotional regulation, ADHD, family systems, divorce, co-parenting, crisis, suicide ideation, self-harm, anxiety, grief, chronic stress, depression, relationships, sexual abuse, physical abuse and trauma. I lived overseas for ten years and have a deep understanding of how culture can influence clients' lives. I have an eclectic approach to counseling and incorporate CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and EMDR. I want to meet my clients right where they are in life. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, supportive and safe environment for my clients to heal and find a way to navigate life with clarity. My goal is to help my clients to feel safe, grow and heal so that they can understand and cope with life. I want to help clients to evaluate, process and create a new narrative for their lives. I look forward to beginning the process of helping clients to change their lives and create new paths.
