Introduction

Hi, my name is Gail Groboski. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) with over 20 years of experience and a passion for helping people, in particular teens to young adults. I am the proud mother of three, giving me both personal and professional perspective while working with parents and children. I work with a number of families at various stages of the divorce process while helping children to interpret and adapt to their new family structure and assist parents with fostering open communication in their households. In addition to offering guidance in family structure issues, I work with teens and young adults on understanding the connection between the brain and the body and how to make good decisions for their physical and emotional health. This comprehension facilitates a higher understanding of how their emotions are impacted by environmental factors. During individual counseling sessions, I aspire to forge a partnership with my clients. My approach varies based on their individual needs so that we can meet their respective goals. Together we can identify and utilize each client’s strengths to help them arrive at their own solutions and develop new strategies for challenging situations. I strive to build a secure relationship with clients and families based on respect, collaboration, and compassion. I am a firm believer that the trust that grows within these relationships is paramount to beneficial therapy. In my experience, I have found it constructive to implement a multi-modal approach. I have training in CBT, DBT, EFT, ACT, and solution-focused therapy. In addition, I have received my certification in Nutritional and Integrative Medicine to be able to further help my clients and am also a Certified Supervisor for the state of Maryland. After beginning my career in Missouri, I worked in a wide range of clinical and community settings. These experiences allowed me to work with various populations of children and their families. I was previously employed as a High School Social Worker at the prestigious Katherine Thomas School’s Treatment and Learning Center of Rockville and in other local private practices. During my work at Katherine Thomas, I lead individual and group therapy sessions for teens to enhance relationship building and valuable social skills. In this experience, I was also educating parents on how to help their children cope with bullying, deal with the pressures of social media, and encourage positive behavior support in the home. I am looking forward to continuing my work with my clients and their families. I am confident that I can help my clients achieve the best version of themselves through our partnership.
