Introduction

Hi. My name is Gayle Lewis, and I am a Licensed Social Worker. My deepest passion is to help people heal from past experiences that have hindered growth and kept them from thriving emotionally, relationally, or professionally. I do this by taking a client-centered, strengths-based approach, while listening with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I then use some of the following counseling modalities to support the healing process: CBT, Trauma-Informed CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Solution-focused therapy, Aspects of Life Coaching, EFT for couples, and Art Therapy techniques. One of the most effective tools I use in therapy is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I use this type of therapy to 1) Help clients heal from past traumatic events, including but not limited to sudden death, attachment wounds, neglect, verbal and sexual abuse, and work-related events and 2) Help relieve the distress associated with deeply held negative core beliefs from childhood. EMDR is for anyone experiencing hurts from the past. Trauma is not a measure of how extreme your experience is or was. Trauma is the result of intense emotional arousal during an event that hinders the adaptive information processing mechanisms of the brain. With EMDR, those trigger-producing maladaptive emotional states can be addressed and healed. Get a glimpse of how EMDR works here: https://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr-therapy-layperson/ It is my honor to partner with you as you seek a pathway forward. I hope to connect with you soon.
