Hi, my name is Gisel Rua. I work with Adults, children, adolescents, and families, supporting them as they navigate challenges related to trauma, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Adelphi University, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical practice, trauma-informed care, and child and adolescent mental health. I have experience providing care across hospital, outpatient, school, and community-based settings. My work includes conducting psychosocial and diagnostic assessments, providing individual and group therapy, supporting crisis intervention, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. I have worked with clients in both in-person and telehealth settings and enjoy supporting adults, children, and adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and strengths-based. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), tailoring treatment to each client’s developmental stage and individual goals. I place strong emphasis on emotional awareness, coping skills, and building resilience. I am committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and culturally responsive therapeutic environment where young people feel understood, supported, and empowered. I believe healing happens through connection, trust, and consistency, and I work alongside clients and families to foster confidence, self-compassion, and meaningful growth. I am bilingual in English and Spanish.
